Frontier Scene, Pine Bluffs, Wyoming

This image shows the small settlement of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming as it looked just after the start of the 20th century.
There is no description on the back of this card.
–The town is located on the border between Wyoming and Nebraska. Its growth was predicated on the presence of the railroad and the trailhead for cattle drives which ended here to allow transport of cattle to eastern markets. Even with this, the population today is just over 1100.
This image is noted on the card to date from the 1900s, though it was purchased and used on 14 July 1955.

This image of the Wyoming State Capitol building is shown from an angled point of view from the front of the building as it might look at night.

The Capitol is one of the most beautiful buildings of the city, of classical design, and a great dome, 146 feet above the ground. It occupies a full block of ground covered with trees and shrubs.
—The building is currently closed for remodeling and will reopen in 2019.

Wyoming State Capitol Building. Wyoming was admitted to the Union in 1890 and was the first state to give the women the right to vote.
–The building was constructed over four years, and was started before Wyoming was admitted as a state.

First National Bank of Flint, Michigan

The description states simply:
FIRST NATIONAL BANK AT FLINT
FLINT, MICHIGAN
–As noted in the link at the beginning of this post, the building was erected in 1926 as the first steel-framed skyscraper in Flint, and is still used as a bank by the Republic Bank which occupies the first two floors. The rest of the building has been converted to apartments.
This card was used and is dated 12 January 1928.

–The building was completed in 1926 and looks essentially the same today, though a connection with a nearby building was removed when the other building was demolished and replaced. The trees shown here are no longer present.

Rock Hunting on Lake Superior, Minnesota

Rockhounds search the North Shore of Lake Superior for its many gemstones. Here agates may be found by the handful.
–Rock collecting has become less popular as time has passed and laws against collecting in most parks and public lands have been passed.

International Tourist Train across the International Bridge

This image shows a tour ‘train’ driving along the roadway of the International Bridge connecting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Canada at the Soo Locks.

SOO TOUR TRAIN ON THE INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE
An entertaining and educational trip through historic Sault Set. Marie, Michigan and crossing the International Bridge over the famous SOO LOCKS to Canada and back. The Trains are located in OLDTOWN across from the SOO LOCKS Information Center.
–Capitalization is in the original. The bridge runs alongside a railroad bridge which can be raised and lowered for ships to pass, and can be seen in the raised position at the left of the image.
This card was used and is dated 11 August 1977.

For convenience of guests there is a Country Store and Coffee Shop. Here one may browse for smart souvenirs and gifts. Fountain Specializing in Maine’s Dairy products.
–This establishment still exists in the same condition and location today, and is associated with the Lakewood Theatre.
This card was used and is dated 10 October 1963.

–Mt. Desert Island is the largest island off the coast of Maine, and is the 6th largest island in the contiguous United States (which excludes the large Hawaiian Islands and Alaskan Islands).
This card was used and is dated 24 September 1963, which is consistent with the cars visible in the photo.
