–The hotel was constructed in 1916 and was purchased in 1951 by the Albert Pick Hotel group. The hotel closed in 1973 and was largely unused until renovation began in 2006. It is now an Embassy Suites with some apartments on the upper floors.
This card was used and is dated 25 April 1956.

This is an aerial view of the long expanse of beachfront known as Dennisport Beach, Massachusetts.

The description states:
AIR VIEW, DENNISPORT BEACH
CAPE COD, MASSACHUSETTS
This lovely beach is one of theist popular along Cape Cod’s scenic coastline.
–This beach is closely associated with the town of Dennis, Massachusetts, where the beach is now more commonly known as Sea Street Beach, a result of development and road construction along this stretch of sand.
Visible in the image are thin dark lines extending from the shore into the water, which are breakwaters intended to retard beach erosion. They are only partly effective in this.
This card was used and is dated 4 September 1957

–Cape Ann is the northernmost cape of Massachusetts, and Rockport sits at the extreme end of the Cape, surrounded on three sides by water.
This card was used and is dated 2 Jul 1964.

Beauvoir House, Biloxi, Mississippi

This image shows the left front of Beauvoir House, the former home of the ex-President of the Confederate States, Jefferson Davis.

The description states:
BEAUVIOR HOUSE — Built in the 1850s — purchased in 1879 by Jefferson Davis, the only President of the Confederate States of America. Here he wrote his monumental work “The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government” and lived until his death in 1889. Now a Shrine under auspices of Sons of Confederate Veterans of Mississippi and United Daughters of the Confederacy.
–As can be seen by the mark on the card, this was used and is dated 6 march 1954.

Natural Bridge, Virginia

The description states:
NATURAL BRIDGE — One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. There is no other structure like it. The Lee Highway, U.S. No. 11 passes over Natural Bridge. It is higher by 55 feet than Niagara Falls. The mean height of the bridge from the stream below to its upper surface is 215 feet, it has a span of 90 feet between the walls, width averages 100 feet and the arch is 40 feet thick.
Hotel and cottage accommodations. Open all year. Illumination at night.
–U.S. Highway 11 still passes over this span. The card was used and is dated 13 August 1951.

Mill Mountain Star, Roanoke, Virginia

The description states:
ROANOKE, VA., Star City of the South
Constructed on top of Mill Mountain, 1,800 feet above sea level and 975 feet above the City. The largest man-made illuminated star in the world — 88 1/2 feet in diameter, on a 100 foot structure — as tall as an eight story building. Nine rows (2,000 feet) of neon tubing.
–The design of the tubing has changed somewhat over the years, to include five concentric stars, and to include red and blue colored neon tubes, though at this time the star is illuminated solely with white.
The star was first lit in 1949, and this card was used, dated 16 August 1951.

–The house was preserved while in private hands and ultimately was deeded to a foundation which maintains the site. It is the only private house in the United States that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the original buildings of the nearby University of Virginia, also designed by Jefferson.
This postcard was used and is dated 16 August 1951.

The description states:
Tomb of the Unknowns, where rest in honored glory Unknown Americans who fell in both World Wars and in the Korean War. Continuous vigil is maintained by Tomb Guards, specially chosen from the 1st Battle Group, 3rd Infantry, part of the Military District of Washington command.
–The soldier in the center is the relief, and the two others are the incoming and outgoing guard. There was a Vietnam veteran interred here for a short time, but the remains were correctly identified and moved according to the family’s wishes. The empty crypt now has a statement engraved on it instead.
This card was used and is dated 23 May 1964.

Wetterhorn, Switzerland

This image shows the mountain known as Wetterhorn overlooking a trail through the lowlands below the mountain summit.
There is no description on the back of this card.
This mountain overlooks the village of Grindewald, and is one of three summits of the same mountain.
This card was used and is dated February 1957.

Matterhorn overlooking Zermatt, Switzerland

This image shows the town of Zermatt, Switzerland, and in the background the world-famous and iconic Matterhorn. The mountain straddles the boundary between Switzerland and Italy.

–The mountain has three names, in German and French as shown here, and it is similarly called Monte Cervino in Italian. The first summit of the Matterhorn in 1865 was initially successful, but ended in tragedy.
