This image is an illustration of the city of Bad Godesberg, Germany, situated on the Rhine River.

The description translates roughly as:
Bad Godesberg on the Rhine enjoys an incomparably beautiful location at the foot of the romantic Godesburg, in the view of the picturesque Siebengibirges and the distant mountains of the Westerwald. “What a look, what pictures, what a unique and enchanting view all round.”
–The tower in the left foreground is the remains of the Godesburg castle, destroyed in 1583.
This image likely dates from the 1920s.

The Dragon Rock Tower, Germany

This is an illustration of the ruined 12th Century tower called Der Drachenfels, or Dragon Rock, along the Rhine near Siebengebirge, Germany.

The description is in German, and translates roughly:
The boldest of all the ruins, which are reflected in the beautiful Rhine stream, is the Drachenfels, the proud guardian of the Seven Hills. The size and power of the formation surpassed all the other rocks on the Rhine. The mountain is 325 meters high, the castle was begun in 1117 and quickly called Drachenburg.
–The postcard was collected during a tour of Germany in 1930, so likely dates from just before then.

The description states:
DONNER LAKE
This beautiful alpine lake lies in a glacial hollow in the Sierra Nevadas surrounded by glorious scenery. Pioneer monument to the east en doc the lake stands where the ill-fated Donner Party of gold-rush days were snow bound.
–The namesake group which was led by George Donner and became stranded in a severe blizzard which left them with no supplies or ability to progress, which led to cannibalism among the party to ensure survival.
The photo is most likely taken from McGlashan Point.
This card was used and is dated 27 June 1955

Pinnacle Point, Point Lobos State Reserve, California

This is another image of Pinnacle Point, taken from almost the exact same location as the previous posting, as shown by the presence of the tree in both images and the close relationship of the tree to the rocky background.

The description states:
PINNACLE POINT
A highlight of the rugged wave-swept coastline at Lobos State Park, south of Carmel, California.
–Both card were produced by the came company, and have the same omission “Lobos State Park” instead of the correct “Point Lobos State Park”. This image appears to be taken during late morning or mid-day, as the shadows are smaller and the color contrast diminished. Still, the exceptional blue color of the sea is still obvious.
This card was used and is dated 20 June 1979.

–Unlike other such rock formations, these are not white from bird guano deposits, but are sun bleached where they extend above the tide line.

–Here and in other pictures of Point Lobos the color of the sea is an exceptional shade of blue, as though reflecting the sky above it.

This famous wind-blown Cypress tree is on the 17-mile drive overlooking Carmel Bay.
–This image is more recent as shown by the missing limbs on the tree, particularly in the center gap and one extending to the right below the canopy. What apparently was once cultivated grass has been allowed to revert to the more natural landscaping.
