Islamic Vase, Corning, New York

This image shows an elaborately enameled and engraved glass vase from the 14th Century.

The description states:

THE CORNING MUSEUM OF GLASS

Corning Glass Center, Corning, New York

Open Tuesday through Sunday

Islamic vase of richly enameled and gilded glass, bearing an inscription with repeats the words: The Wise. It was probably made in Damascus or Aleppo about 1320-30.

Islamic glass is a technique reaching back more than a millennium. This image, though, likely dates from the 1950s.
