Home Ranch Motel, Cheyenne, Wyoming

This hotel stood just down the road from the previous post, as indicated by the Lincolnway address. This road is also known as US Highway 30.

The description states:

When you visit Cheyenne, the Home of FRONTIER DAYS, be sure to stop at Cheyenne’s Newest and Finest HOME RANCH MOTEL, on East Lincolnway (Hi-way 30). Ultra-modern inits with wall to wall carpeting, T.V., Tile Baths and Thermostatic Temperature control. You will receive a cordial welcome by Mr. and Mrs. M. W. (Bill) Shepherd, Owners and Operators.

–This establishment existed in this general form and with this name until a few years ago, but is now closed. The postcard likely dates to the 1950s.

–The inclusion of hospitals among the desirable locations is peculiar. This establishment no longer exists. The autos shown in the image indicate this card dates from the 1950s.

Green River and Toll Gate Rock, Wyoming

This image shows the same perspective as the last posting, but with a closer focus on the formation known as Toll Gate Rock.

The description states:

#4042 — Toll Gate Rock reflected in the placid waters of Green River on U. S. 30 just west of the city of Green River, Wyoming.

–The name comes from a time when the Momons in the area cut a pass for travellers and charged a toll. This image does not show the route of the current Interstate 80, which cuts behind the formation. This image likely dates from the 1950s.
