Dining Room Building, Little America, Wyoming

Moving past the parking lot and the iconic Little America Sign, we now look back towards the fuel pumps and service station area behind the sign, and the Dining Room. The location is named partly in honor of the camp of the same name established at the South Pole by Richard Byrd in 1929.

Natural Color by Mike Roberts, Berkeley 2, Calif.

The description states:

America’s New Travel Center, 300-Capacity Coffee Shop and Dining Room, 150 Air Conditioned Motor Lodge Rooms, Fountain, Cocktail Lounge, Deluxe Rest Rooms.

World’s Largest Service Station – 55 Pumps, Garage, Giant Paved Parking Areas, Famous Coast to Coast.

— The iconic sign at the right has two dark spots on it, these appear to be lights or blinkers, and are not stains or other marks on the card. The penguin was used on many billboards leading to the center, but all the penguin themed billboards have been removed.

This card dates from the 1960s.
